1300 Numbers Explained

1300 numbers are the Australian reversed charge network. This means that the business pays for the cost of the customer's call.

With 1300 numbers, the business does not pay any fees or charges for up to 20 minutes when the customer calls originate's from a local landline.

A customer can make a call to 1300 numbers from any fixed landline within Australia for the price of a local call.

When your customer calls a 1300 number from their mobile phone, their mobile provider will charge your customer a fee for ringing your 1300 number.

This fee varies and will depend on which company they are with.

1300 numbers piggy-back your already existing service.

This can be a mobile number or a fixed land line.

1300 numbers don't need a separate phone line.

1300 numbers don't affect your existing service.

Customers will still be able to dial your fixed land line or mobile phone number directly.

You may still dial out from your mobile phone or fixed land line, these calls will be billed to you by your existing provider.

Telcoworx will only bill you for any incoming calls on your 1300 numbers or 1800 numbers.

Customer's calls that you receive through your 1300 numbers or 1800 numbers will be treated exactly the same as if they had called you on your fixed land line number or mobile number. Eg: If you have message bank attached to your mobile or fixed landline and you miss the call, the call will go through to your message bank.

Calls made to a 13 number are charged at the same rate as 1300 numbers, however, there is a substantial annual government charge of around $10,000 associated with 13 numbers.

Are there any 1300 contracts?

Some telcos try to lock you into a 12/24 month 1300 numbers contract. Telcoworx doesn't have any contracts. You simply give one month's calendar notice to quit.

Are there any 1300 set-up fees?

Some telcos charge 1300 numbers set-up fees starting from $19 to hundred's of dollars to set up your new 1300 numbers. Telcoworx doesn't charge any setup fee which means more money in your pocket.

Does Telcoworx offer phonewords?

NO!

Most Phonewords cost around $500 and can be purchased directly from the Federal Government website www.smartnumbers.com.au

BEFORE YOU LEASE A 1300 Smart Number from another company, at an enormous monthly rental fee, check www.smartnumbers.com.au first and you will be able to own the number yourself, and we will never charge you any monthly fees.

If you call or you complete an online form with some unscrupulous "Phone Word" companies to request to see if a particular 1300 Smart Number is available, your request may be quickly recorded and the 1300 Smart Number may be purchased from www.smartnumbers.com.au by that "Phone Word" company.

These "Phone Word" companies may then try to lease the 1300 Smart Number to you, locking your business into exorbitant lease charges!

If you decide to lease a 1300 Smart Number from a "Phone Word" company you will lose control of your 1300 Smart Number. This means that if the "Phone Word" company goes broke or decides to ramp up their lease fees, you will have perpetual uncertainty as you build your business and this may even put your business at risk.

Can I have a 1300 smartnumber with more than 10 digits?

Yes you can,

This is called overdial. Take our 1300 Smart Number for example. 1300 TELCOWORX is advertised with a total of 13 digits yet our actual number is 1300 835 269 (10 digits).

Overdial allows you to advertise your own business name and automatically connect's your customer's call once they have dialled the tenth digit.

It does not affect the call if your customers dial the remainding three digits.
